Drag king

Experimenting with gender performativity in theatre has been with me always.

I was introduced to a physical approach to dragking through Sepideh Khodarami in 2021, since then I have elaborated, and researched a specific character:

NICOLAS LES NIQUES

I've given group and solo performances at
Basement, Copenhagen
Strindbergs Intima teater, Stockholm
Club mermaid in Malmö. And alongside Cocky Kings.

I view dragking as the ultimate transparent mask ( a way of clowning), because in portraying hypermasculinity with a body that is not coded as such you lay bare the performativity of "biological" binary gender.

For me it is very much a physical practice. And a social and historic practice, stemming from queer celebration and queer subversion at the same time.

It's showpony energy with a lethal undertone.

I believe you can not delve into drag king without thinking critically about gender, and highlighting the importance of not overruling transmasculine experience. For me dragking is a political stance.

And fun.

And sexy.

And dance. Lipsynch. Flirtation. Caricature.

nicolas loves to perform. . . and he loves women. and men. and he thinks you are. . . looking. . . very intelligent.
