FIGHT CLUB, the practice

TOUCHÉ
the show

in 2023 i started researching a choreographical practice called Fight Club. In this i relied on a conceptualization of a plurality of fight clubs, and it lead me to a more general approach to performing arts: cherishing the reality that occurs within a constructed or fictive situation.

In this i include the stakes that I, as a performer, feel manifest in my own physical body as i enter a stage. The fragility of how I am dependent on that the audience joins me in my fiction.

Another point of departure was male vulnerability and male touch. And in terms of aesthetic there was pro wrestling, horses in combat and western duels. I also researched the "dramaturgy" of a fight. And reversing that dramaturgy. I collected this in a diy kind of zine which can be found here.

The choreographical research led to the show TOUCHÉ - "a solo with an opponent" which I performed with Line Jonsdotter and Tovalisa Delin on two seperate occasion. It is aimed at younger audiences, and intended to be performed in gym halls in schools.
